We like this blender a lot. We've been making a lot of smoothies lately as a healthy snack alternative. We've also used this blender to make salsa and guacamole. We even used it to make some of our ice creams and pie fillings.
One issue we run into pretty often is that it can be a pain to get things to start blending. If you try adding a little water, that'll usually give it the kick start it needs. If you want to blend frozen fruits or vegetables, you need to chop them pretty small first (we blended frozen strawberries with whipping cream to make a delicious strawberry ice cream).
These measuring cups are awesome! They're microwave safe which is super handy in dorm room cooking. They're also collapsible saving precious space in your cooking kit. They're easy to clean which is a premium feature.
Perhaps the best feature of all, they have a pouring spout. This seems like such an obvious feature, but when you're cooking for one or two people, you're not usually mixing in large bowls. Having a pouring spout makes it way easier to get your ingredients into smaller containers. What a huge plus!
The blender bottle is pretty handy to have around for mixing thinner fluids like powdered drinks or omelet mixes. With thicker mixes like cake mix or pancake mix, the mix powder just thickens in the blender ball and it's a mess trying to get out of the bottle. The manufacturer says you could mix peanut butter into drinks with it, but we haven't had luck with anything thicker than pancake mix (and even then, we supplemented the mixing by beating it with a fork after shaking).
This is one of our favorite cooking contraptions. We knew we wanted to feature quesadillas on Dorm Room Meals, but we had no idea just how versatile this thing is. We found ourselves quickly and simply making cakes, eggs and pancakes, turnovers, and more! With so much versatility at such a low cost, this is definitely one of our most recommended dorm room kitchen devices.
We really love this sandwich maker. It sure has a special place in our hearts. It's the first thing we really used to start putting together Dorm Room Meals. We've cooked things we never imagined could be cooked in it. We have cooked quesadillas, omelets, turnovers, and so much more!
